If you have some helpful hints you’ve learned or developed yourself, please share them with us. Email your hints to Cheryl@croppingcooks.com. The hints will be updated so we can all learn together! Some of these may seem commonplace to you but I do hope at some point, we will have many of you saying, “hmm, that’s interesting!” Note: I recently taught a beginning scrapbooking class to women who had never scrapbooked before. After meeting with them for just six hours, I found that I had learned just as much from them. I wanted to start our “Hint” section with two unique ideas from these first timers! 1. If you have a large scrapbooking table (or dining room table), create stations around the table. That way you get up and move around and don’t end up just sitting there! 2. If you don’t want to invest a lot of money right from the start, walk around your house and find things for storing your supplies. My neighbor Judy eyed two plastic cell phone boxes that were layered and stackable. She snagged them before they were tossed in the trash. They made perfect scrap and quote holders! Judy also reported that while she was scrapbooking, her husband (a construction handyman) picked up her Fiskar paper cutter and asked what it was! She now realizes she has to keep an eye on her supplies or they may end up in his truck. Consider yourself warned! 3. During my first scrapbooking class, the instructor said the best way to make holes for brads was to use the tip of your scissors. I said that I found the stylus (what some people call the mini ice pick in your eyelet kit) made perfect holes. I still use it and it is just my favorite scrapbooking tool. 4. This is probably what everyone does but I find that keeping one of the plastic shoebox storage boxes right next to me when I scrapbook and tossing my scraps into it, is a lifesaver. I reach in there all the time to find scrap pieces for matting. I know, I know -- this is probably what everyone does, but if I made a difference in at least one person’s life… then it was worth making a fool of myself in front of all of you professional scrappers! 5. Use your CD jewel cases to organize your cut out quotes. You can actually put labels on the edge and stack them alphabetically within your reach. Admit it – this is a good one! 6. (YOUR IDEA HERE) |
