In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is

the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing,

and the worst thing you can do is nothing.

Theodore Roosevelt

Now you’re ready for your second page.  This is one of my favorite methods for creating a page.  Every book I make contains at least one pocket page.

1.                  Start with a 6x6-inch sheet of paper

2.                  Double mount your picture or photo.  Single mount your recipe and favorite quote.

3.                  On the top left hand side of this example are brads.  They are great for securing pages and for decoration.  The item below the brads that looks like an ice pick, is one of my most useful tools.  It comes with your eyelet kit.  I use it for piercing the paper to create holes for brads, tucking in stray mounting tabs, etc.

4.             Use a single mounting square towards the bottom of your picture and attach it to your background paper. This will hold it secure while you attach the brads.

5.           Using the stylus (little ice pick), punch holes in all four corners and attach brads. Securing your page with brads is a good idea because you don’t want the sides to lift when you put your recipe in the pocket.

6.                  Slide your recipe into its newly-created pocket and attach your quote on the top with mounting squares.  Just for a little effect, I attached a brad to the quote. It adds a bit of dimension to your page.

7.                  Page #2 is done.  Now you’re on a roll!

NOTE:    The image above of the women in hats is a vintage postcard I recently purchased.  I copied it so I can use the image over and over again.  I will be including it on my next CD of images.  Great hats!

I began wearing hats as a young lawyer because it helped me to establish my professional identity. Before that, whenever I was at a meeting,
someone would ask me to get coffee.
