The scrapbooks that I have had great luck with when creating the mini-cookbooks include:

The Alpha-1 (6x6”) scrapbook – These books come in three colors (red, green, and blue).  They are available at Michaels for $3.99 (use your 40% off coupon also).  If you want to create a slightly large book, they have about 3 other sizes to chose from.  Cookbooks made with these scrapbooks will last a long time.  They are durable and have the plastic sheets covering your work.

  • Scrap just one side of the page.  If you do both sides, it gets pretty bulky.  Alpha does have the extenders for these books if you want to create a book that is more than 10 pages.
  • The 6x6” albums are so great because you can buy cardstock that is already 6x6”.
  • To make your album look neater, place the white sheet of paper that comes with the album behind your work.  It covers up brad and eyelet backs and it just looks nicer.

Kolo Mini Albums – These wonderful albums come in array of sizes and textures.  Again, I just scrap on one side.  It naturally expands but it becomes very bulky if you scrap both sides. Also, since this album does not have the plastic sheets, you risk damaging pages as they would come in contact with each other. Kolo also makes these wonderful accordion-type albums too.

  • The best thing about Kolo albums (available at Aaron Brothers and Barnes and Noble) is that you can attach embellishments that pop up, pull out, lift up, etc.

  • Most of the Kolo albums have a framed front for personalizing.

You can really use any photo album. Tuesday Morning and Target have been a great source.  If you have found others that you like, please email at: cheryl@croppingcooks.com me so we can let others know.
